World Trade Illinois (WTI) and former Illinois Agriculture Director Chuck Hartke launched a new collaborative statewide effort to help Illinois businesses open markets outside U.S. borders. WTI, a non profit organization providing international trade services, is introducing “Go Global and Succeed” - an effort to help build a bridge to success in markets overseas – to businesses across the state. The effort is designed to help strengthen the Illinois economy through international trade.
“The ability to sell Illinois products does not stop at the borders of this state or the U.S. There is a global demand for products in various industries including coal, agriculture, organic materials, technology and more. WTI has the resources to help Illinois companies open these doors, create profitable partnerships and grow business in the international marketplace. We’re here to help them build that bridge,” World Trade Illinois President Bill Lada said.
As the unemployment rate in Illinois lingers around 11 percent, opening new markets for Illinois products will create jobs and help rebuild the local economy. According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Federal Trade Agreements supported more than 5.4 million U.S. jobs in 2008. Small & medium sized enterprises make up 97% of all U.S. exporters and are responsible for more than 30% of goods exported from the U.S.
